Dear All:
This is just a reminder that the Bankruptcy Section of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association is hosting a panel discussion this Friday, September 25, 2015, at 12 noon in the bar association’s office in Tarzana on selected tentative opinions of the Woodland Hills bankruptcy judges.
You should attend the program for a good number of reasons:
1. This is the first time we can look at tentatives from Judge Martin Barash. He is new as a judge. I have spent a lot of time working through his tentative opinions to present to you interesting comments he has made. I will have some perspective for you about what I think Judge Barash believes is important in his first year as a judge. We will discuss how he is evolving as well.
2. Cassandra Richey (Prober and Raphael) and Yi Sun Kim (Greenberg & Bass) have put together some good tentative opinions from Judges Tighe and Kaufman. They have a lot of good information to share.
3. We are expanding the program’s length from one hour to one hour and thirty minutes so that the program is not cut short by the clock. One recurring complaint I receive is that this program needs to be longer. This year it will start a few minutes after 12 noon and end 90 minutes later.
Given the mix of speakers, both debtor and creditor counsel, there should be some controversy as well. Whatever your experience level, you can benefit from the program.
